Soil and Amendment Product Guide

We recommend maintaining 1 to 2 inches of mulch in your garden beds. This can be bark or compost.

You probably know that mulch suppresses weeds and reduces watering needs during warmer months, but mulching before winter has lasting gardening benefits you don't want to miss. It:

1.   Protects soil from compaction from winter rains
2.  Insulates roots of cold sensitive plants
3.  Builds soil as organic matter breaks down

Not sure what soil, mulch or ammendment to use?

Find the best product for your garden with our guide below. Of course, you can always ask one of our garden coaches for a recommendation!

Soil Building Conditioner

Has a nice finished look while being packed with goodies like chicken manure, earthworm castings, kelp meal and more! The condensed 3cf bale makes this a great value for mulching large areas.

Hemlock

Bark

Hemlock Bark is anaturally dark colored bark. This is our most popular bark for its looks.

Medium Bark Mulch

Gardeners Medium Bark Mulch is slightly chunkier than the hemlock bark with a lighter appearance.

Edna's Best Potting Soil

Our most popular!

Perfect blend for use both indoors and outdoors. It is packed with organic fertilizers and compost.

The addition of lime makes this soil great for growing veggies. It uses pumice rather than perlite (that tends to float to the top) for drainage.

G&B Organics Potting Soil

A good choice for larger outdoor containers. It comes in a more economical 2cf bag. Tends to hold moisture better than Edna's Best.

E.B. Stone Organics Planting Compost

An excellent soil amendment or mulch. Spread a layer on top of the soil, till in or add to a planting hole, this compost will help soil retain moisture and add vital nutrients.

Raised bed & potting mix

Great for very large pots or raised beds.

When using for raised beds we recommend mixing it with our premium top soil.

Cactus & Succulent mix:

This soil has more pumice, lava rock and sand to provide aeration in the soil and oxygen to the roots (rather than the roots being surrounded by just organic matter).

We mix this with some perlite to care for our indoor plants. The texture feels more rocky and mineral-rich.

E.B. Stone Indoor Potting Soil

While we want our outdoor planters to retain more water so we don't have to water them as much. Indoor soils are designed for drainage and to prevent root rot.

This indoor soil is well balanced and is like a blend between Cactus and Succulent mix and Edna's Best.

Harvest Supreme

The preferred soil amendment for veggie gardens. Packed with 15% chicken manure this compost will give those veggies a real boost! Turn into the soil or mulch on top.

Top Coat

An extra fine compost designed as a seed cover and a cheaper, more effective and more sustainable alternative to peat moss. Sprinkle 1/8" of top coat over newly seeded or over seeded lawns to retain the moisture critical to seed germination
